The BND Player of the Week highlights high school varsity football players who put in outstanding performances from the week prior to the opening of the poll.

If you want to suggest someone to be included, send an email teschman@bnd.com.

Please include the athlete’s name, school, class, position, and applicable game performance statistics. Coaches must be willing to verify information.

To be clear, this poll is not scientific. In fact, we invite you to vote as many times as you want. It’s all for fun, BND readers. We are planning to post the results later this week after the poll closes.

Isaac Ackerman, Triad, QB, senior

Ackerman completed 7-of-11 passes for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Knights’ 42-13 win against Jerseyville.

Jaedon Beamon, Belleville East, RB, junior

Beamon rushed for 90 yards on 12 carries in the Lancers’ 27-0 victory against Alton.

Christopher Bennett Jr., East St. Louis, WR, senior

Bennett returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown in the Flyers’ 55-0 win against O’Fallon.

Charleston Coldon, Althoff, WR/DB, senior

Coldon caught an 18-yard touchdown pass and returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown in the Crusaders’ 49-0 Homecoming win against Alton Marquette.

Ian Dempsey, Triad, WR, senior

Dempsey caught 5 passes for 136 yards in the Knights’ 42-13 win against Jerseyville.

Jayden Ellington, Althoff, QB, sophomore

Ellington fired 3 touchdown passes while completing 14-of-20 passes for 176 yards in the Crusaders’ 49-0 Homecoming win against Alton Marquette.

Dierre Hill Jr., Althoff, RB, senior

Hill Jr. rushed for 126 yards on just 4 carries (31.5 yard average) in the Crusaders’ 49-0 Homecoming win against Alton Marquette. Hill had touchdown runs of 45 yards, 22 yards and 40 yards.

James Johnson, Belleville East, WR, sophomore

Johnson caught 5 passes for 81 yards in the Lancers’ 27-0 victory against Alton.

Tyson Rakers, Highland, RB

Rakers rushed for 90 yards and 1 touchdown on 13 carries in the Bulldogs’ 28-14 loss to Waterloo. Rakers also caught a 32-yard touchdown pass.

Chase Reynolds, Collinsville, QB

Reynolds completed 14-of-18 passes for 173 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Kahoks’ 41-0 victory against Granite City. Reynolds also rushed for 85 yards on 8 carries.

Mike Taylor, East St. Louis, RB, senior

Taylor rushed for 101 yards on 6 carries in the Flyers’ 55-0 win against O’Fallon.

Larevious Woods, East St. Louis, RB, senior

Woods rushed for 108 yards on 8 carries in the Flyers’ 55-0 win against O’Fallon.
