College scholarship offers keep pouring in for dynamic East St. Louis combination
One of the most dynamic passing combinations in the state, East St. Louis quarterback Tyler Macon and wide receiver Dominic Lovett remain two of the most sought after football recruits in the Midwest.
According to their own personal twitter accounts and 247Sports, both Flyers all-state players have picked up more NCAA Division I scholarship offers in the past few weeks.
The 6-1, 185-pound Macon continues to reap the rewards of his record-smashing season in which he led the Flyers to the Class 6A state title.
Establishing a new IHSA record of 56 combined touchdowns, Macon recently picked up scholarship offers from Southeastern Conference schools Missouri and Vanderbilt, along with Liberty University.
The News-Democrat Large School Player of the Year this past season when he became just the second player in state history to account for more than 5,000 yards of total offense, Macon is ranked as the No. 21 recruit in Illinois for the Class of 2021.
Macon also has scholarship offers from Central Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Western Michigan and Southern Mississippi.
Lovett, a 5-10, 175-pound wide receiver, is the No. 4 ranked recruit in the state and the No. 45 ranked wide receiver in the nation by 247Sports.
Lovett, who caught 73 passes for 1,541 yards and 16 touchdowns in helping to lead East St. Louis to a 14-0 record and ninth state title in school history, recently picked up offers from Oregon, Georgia, Mississippi State and Arkansas.
Previously, Lovett had offers from Illinois, Missouri, Purdue, Iowa State, Louisville, West Virginia, Minnesota, Indiana, Michigan State and Northwestern.
