Kolten Wong snapped a 1-1 tie with a sixth-inning home run to right, a 434-foot blast against Alfredo Simon, as the St. Louis Cardinals salvaged the finale of a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers with a 2-1 win. Lance Lynn (3-3) posted the win, allowing one run on six hits in 7 1/3 innings. Lynn walked two, struck out seven and benefited from a key eighth-inning double play induced by Seth Maness.

The Cardinals have scored 11 runs in their last four games, with nine of them coming via the home-run ball. ... Trevor Rosenthal pitched the ninth for his 13th save. ...
