Bryce Harper is one of the top free agents available during the 2018-2019 MLB offseason, and many fans hope the Cardinals will try to bring him to St. Louis.

The Cardinals aren’t likely to sign any of the top 10 free agents this offseason. That’s according to 6,845 fans who participated in the mlbtraderumors.com prediction contest.

According to those results, 34 percent believe Bryce Harper will sign with the Phillies while only 7.9 percent believe he’ll wear the birds on the bat.

Harper, who is expected to command at least a 10 year, $350 million contract, is one of two big-time free agents available this offseason.

Fans don’t think Manny Machado will sign in St. Louis, either. According to the poll, 45.8 percent of fans believe he will also end up in Philadelphia, while another 36.5 percent believe he’ll be a New York Yankee. Only 1.9% believe he’ll land in St. Louis.

Perhaps the results shouldn’t be all that surprising. In a poll on the 618 Sports Facebook group page, 92 percent of those who voted don’t believe the Cardinals will sign either player.

Dodgers shortstop Manny Machado is expected to be on the St. Louis Cardinals radar this offseason, but the free agent-to-be has attracted quite a bit of controversy since landing in Los Angeles.

If you’re hoping the Cardinals might add one of the top pitchers, you’ll be disappointed by these numbers, too. Only 1.4 percent believe St. Louis will sign Patrick Corbin, 4.1 percent believe they’ll sign Dallas Keuchel, 1.6 percent believe they’ll land Nathan Eovaldi, and 2.3 percent believe J.A. Happ will be a Cardinal.

The results show fans do believe the Cardinals could sign Craig Kimbrel; 18.1 percent of those who participated said he would be the next St. Louis closer, though they gave Atlanta (28.8 percent) and Boston (25.4 percent) a better chance of landing him, too.

Because the Cardinals aren’t predicted to sign any of the top free agents, the trade rumors are starting to swirl including one that has St. Louis interested in Nicholas Castellanos, while KMOV has a list of five possible trade targets the Cardinals can pursue.
