The St. Louis Cardinals have interest in Madison Bumgarner as Winter Meetings begin
The St. Louis Cardinals could target former Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner during the Winter Meetings, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
Feinsand reports that a source says the Cardinals could enter the bidding for the 2014 World Series hero, joining the Minnesota Twins, Chicago White Sox, Atlanta Braves, and division rival Cincinnati Reds.
Bumgarner is expected to receive a deal worth more than $100 million after Zack Wheeler signed a $118 million deal with the Philadelphia Phillies.
This is the first rumor in awhile for the Cardinals, but one ESPN writer postulates a blockbuster trade with the Boston Red Sox could bring St. Louis a different starting pitcher — and star outfielder Mookie Betts.
