Will the St. Louis Cardinals sign a big-time free agent? Here’s what an ESPN writer thinks
Will the Cardinals land a significant free agent hitter or pitcher before spring training opens in February?
According to one ESPN expert, the answer is a resounding no.
David Schoenfield put together a list of predictions on where the remaining top free agents would sign this offseason.
The BND Cheap Seats fan blogger Scott Wuerz has spent much of the offseason pushing for St. Louis to sign free agent 3B Josh Donaldson. But Schoenfield doesn’t even have the Cardinals interested in Donaldson. Ultimately, he has the former all-star and MVP going back to the Braves.
Schoenfield does have St. Louis interested in two pitchers, Hyun-Jin Ryu and Dallas Keuchel. But Schoenfield also predicts that Ryu will end up playing with the Angels and Keuchel signing with the Twins.
And finally, Schoenfield also has the Cardinals interested but missing out on a reunion with Marcell Ozuna. The ESPN writer predicts Ozuna will sign with the Reds.
