Cardinals release 2016 schedule

The St. Louis Cardinals have released its 2016 regular season schedule.

For the fifth year in a row, the St. Louis Cardinals will open on the road, an April 4 date in Pittsburgh. The season ends with the Pirates and a three-game home series that begins Sept. 30.

The Cardinals home opener will be a 3:15 p.m. start April 11 against the Milwaukee Brewers that kicks off a nine-game home stand.

The Cardinals’ 20-game interleague schedule includes the five teams of the American League West division, including former NL rival Houston Astros. The Cardinals will play at the Los Angeles of Anaheim (and Albert Pujols) May 10-12, but will not play host to their former slugger.

In addition, the schedule calls for 19 games with the Cardinals’ arch-rival Chicago Cubs.
