Members of the St. Louis Cardinals’ 2006 World Series team, and their counterparts on the 2015 club, will be honored at the 58th Annual St. Louis Baseball Writers Dinner Jan. 17 at the Marriott Grand Hotel.

The 2006 team marked the first of two World Series championships for manager Tony La Russa in St. Louis, with David Eckstein winning the Series MVP. Eckstein and La Russa expect to be on hand for the dinner, along with other members of that notable team.

Members of the 100-win Cardinals club in 2015 will be honored, including manager Mike Matheny and closer Trevor Rosenthal, who will share the J. Taylor Spink Baseball Man of the Year Award at this year’s dinner.

Baseball legend and St. Louis native Yogi Berra, who died Sept. 22 at the age of 90, will also be honored at the event, with family members on hand to accept his award.

Tickets for the dinner are $150 each, with tables of 10 available at $1,500. In addition, for $10 more a plate attendees can have a special meal selected by Matheny for the dinner – a ribeye steak and potato instead of the customary steak-and-chicken meal. In addition, fans wanting a pass to the Cardinals’ Warm-Up Weekend three-day event, can get that in a ticket combo with the writers dinner by paying $175 a ticket, or $185 if they want the “Matheny meal.”

Checks or money orders can be mailed to St. Louis BBWAA, P.O. Box 605, St. Louis, MO 63188.

Tickets buyers can also go to StLouisBBWAA.com and click on the “Purchase Tickets” button. For more information, click on the”Contact Us” tab on the website, email the group at stlouisbbwaa@gmail.com or call (314) 662-1701.
