Netflix promises ‘unprecedented access’ to Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes in new docuseries
Netflix scored a modest hit with its “Full Swing” series on the life of professional golfers.
Now the streaming service is promising to give viewers an inside look at NFL quarterbacks.
Netflix announced Wednesday a partnership with the NFL for a docuseries called “Quarterback” that will air this summer. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be featured in the show.
“This year, the series features exclusive, unprecedented access to Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota from the beginning of the 2022 season to its conclusion,” the NFL said in a news release, “following them on and off the field, from inside the huddle with teammates to inside their homes with their families.”
The league said it allowed the quarterbacks to be mic’d-up for every game this season, and Netflix was given special access to Mahomes as he set the NFL record for total offense and won the NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP awards.
Mahomes’ new 2PM Productions will co-produce the series, the NFL said.
“I’m excited for fans to get an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at an unforgettable season for the entire Chiefs organization and for my family,” Mahomes said in a news release. “From welcoming home a new baby in the middle of the season to welcoming the Lombardi trophy back to Kansas City, our crew was there for it all. This new Netflix series will show the time, preparation and balance that it takes to be an NFL quarterback and perform on the biggest stage.”
The NFL said the docuseries will also be produced by NFL Films and Omaha Productions. Hall of Famer Peyton Manning is executive producer for Omaha Productions, the league noted.
Netflix shared this look on Twitter.
