Heidi Gardner, Eric Stonestreet to take part in 1st day of NFL Draft festivities in KC
The NFL is doing its best to put Kansas City in the spotlight for this year’s Draft.
The league on Thursday announced activities surrounding the first day of the event, which will be held April 27-30 at Union Station and the National WWI Museum and Memorial.
A number of local celebrities are expected to take part.
Things will start when prospects who attend the NFL Draft will walk a red carpet at the Memorial Courtyard at the World War I Museum and Memorial at 4:45 p.m. The red carpet show will be televised on the NFL Network and Melissa Stark will be the host.
Singer Oleta Adams, who lives in Kansas City, will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” the NFL said, while country music singer Brittney Spencer will sing the national anthem at the WWI Museum and Memorial.
When the anthem ends, there will be a military flyover.
Overland Park’s Lost Wax will be the house band at the Draft Theater, the NFL said, performing between draft-pick announcements.
During the draft, “Kansas City Chiefs players and Legends along with members of Big Slick Kansas City including Eric Stonestreet and Heidi Gardner will take part in a variety of special moments,” the league said.
The NFL will host a concert after each day of the draft, but it has yet to announce the artists who will perform.
The NFL Draft Experience, which will be located on the south side of the World War I Museum and Memorial, will be open at these times:
April 27: Noon to 10 p.m.
April 28: Noon to 10 p.m.
April 29: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The North Lawn will remain open throughout the NFL Draft and will serve as a general viewing area for fans at the post-draft concerts.
