St. Louis Blues winger Vladimir Tarasenko, who recorded his third career hat trick last Thursday and is among the NHL’s leading goal-scorers, on Monday was named the NHL’s Second Star of the Week.

Philadelphia Flyers goalie Steve Mason was the league’s No. 1 star and San Jose Sharks goalie Martin Jones was the No. 3 star.

Tarasenko piled up four goals and five points and netted a pair of game-winning goals last week to help the Blues (14-7-4, 32 points) gain five of six points in three games last week. He ranks third in the NHL scoring race with 13 goals and 27 points through 25 games.

Tarasenko scored the overtime game-winner Nov. 28 in a 4-3 overtime win over the Dallas Stars, then scored two goals in the first period last Thursday on the way to a hat trick and four points in a 5-4 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Currently second in the Western Conference standings and fourth overall in the NHL, the Blues return to action with a 7 p.m. home game Tuesday against the league’s top team, the Montreal Canadiens (17-6-2, 36 points).
