Here’s who made the Blues roster
The St. Louis Blues Monday announced their roster for the NHL regular season, which begins in Pittsburgh Wednesday.
Forward Tage Thompson, the Blues’ first round pick of the 2016 draft, earned a spot on the final roster. Sammy Blais, 22, who scored 26 goals last season for the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, did not.
It was Blais who missed parts of two periods Saturday after absorbing a blow from the Washington Capitals’ Tom Wilson. St. Louis coach Mike Yeo called the hit “predatory.” He had two goals and two assists in the preseason.
There are six players on the roster that were not with the team last year, Thompson included. The others are defensemen Vince Dunn and Nate Prosser plus forwards Wade Megan, Oskar Sundqvist and Christ Thornburn.
▪ Defensemen: Carl Gunnarsson, Joel Edmundson, Alex Pietrangelo, Vince Dunn, Tage Thompson, Nate Prosser, Robert Bortuzzo, Colton Parayko.
▪ Forwards: Scottie Upshall, Brayden Schenn, Jaden Schwartz, Chris Thorburn, Dmitrij Jaskin, Paul Stastny, Kyle Brodziak, Ivan Barbashev, Magnus Paajarvi, Wade Megan, Oskar Sundqvist, Vladimir Sobotka, Vladimir Tarasenko.
▪ Goalies: Jake Allen, Carter Hutton.
