What qualifies you for this position?
“As the dean of the Belleville City Council, I am privileged to have been chosen by my neighbors to represent their interests at City Hall. I’m proud of what we have accomplished for the city through the years, but as an alderman I continue to be focused most on the needs and concerns of my ward and my neighbors. Being a city council member is about service. That means paying attention to the little things that make our ward a better place — things like street and sidewalk repairs. It also means listening when my constituents call, answering questions and helping them solve problems.”
What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?
“There really are two top issues facing our city. The first is the need to keep our neighborhoods safe. That means focusing our resources to make certain we get more police on the streets preventing crime, as well as encourage community support of our police through neighborhood watch and other programs. The second is the need to increase maintenance and repair of our city streets. Upgrading infrastructure like streets and sidewalks in the same way we have upgraded the city’s sewer system is essential to attracting and keeping residents and businesses.”
