Firefighters called to car blaze on I-64 near New Baden

At about 9:15 p.m. Sunday an Illinois State Trooper was en route to what was reported as a car fire on Interstate 64 near New Baden, according to shift commander Master Sgt. Mike Lewis at ISP headquarters in Collinsville.

“It’s not a crash,” said Lewis, “that’s about all we know right now.”
