Body found at Frank Holten state park in East St. Louis
A fisherman found the body of a man Tuesday night in a lake at Frank Holten State Park, according to state police.
The fisherman snagged the body and called 911 shortly before 8 p.m., according to Illinois State Police Sgt. Jerri Hochmuth.
One side of the lake was blocked off to outside traffic as of 9:45 p.m. Among the vehicles moving in and out of the area were an East St. Louis Police car, a private hearse and an ambulance. Other first responders and State Police crime scene investigators were also at the scene. The hearse and law enforcement cleared the scene shortly before 11 p.m.
Hochmuth confirmed that the body was that of a black male, and said that police were attempting to identify the man.
No further details were released by police as of Wednesday evening.
