Caseyville convenience store robbed by armed woman

Caseyville Police are asking the public for help in identifying a woman who robbed a convenience store while armed with a pistol.

Police said the Caseyville Mini-Mart was robbed about 9 p.m. Thursday by a woman wearing shorts, black-and-green sneakers and a black-and-blue hooded sweatshirt. Police have released a surveillance image of the suspect.

Police said she tried to fire the gun but it apparently malfunctioned.

The woman ran off but might have been picked up by someone who was waiting in a nearby vehicle, police said.

The store is located at 8805 Maple Street.

Police asked that anyone with information call Caseyville Police at 277-3500.
