Body of missing fisherman found at Carlyle Lake
Search crews on Wednesday afternoon found the body of a fisherman who didn’t return home from a fishing trip at Carlyle Lake.
The man’s body was found along the shore.
Clinton County Sheriff Doug Maue said it’s unclear what happened to the man. Maue said it’s possible the fisherman sufferd some type of medical problem.
“What actually happened, we don’t know,” Maue said.
Rescuers had concentrated their search on the east side of the lake, in the Boulder area.
Authorities did not immediately release the name of the fisherman, who reportedly resided nearby.
Maue said his department received a call just before midnight Tuesday about the missing fisherman. The caller said had not returned home from a fishing trip earlier in the evening. Police have not released the fisherman’s identity.
Agencies involved in the search included the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Illinois Department of Natural Resources and St. Clair County Emergency Services.
Emergency radio transmissions indicated searchers were in the area of Louse Creek Road, near Boulder.
