MLK Bridge closes, lanes reopen on Poplar Street Bridge
As promised, the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge closed at 9 a.m. Monday: See you in December.
The Illinois Department of Transportation will paint the bridge and repave the deck, a total of $15.9 million in repairs to be completed by December. The bridge carries three lanes of traffic over the Mississippi River between East St. Louis and St. Louis.
Motorists should use the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge or the Poplar Street Bridge. All lanes on the Poplar Street Bridge reopened Monday after replacement of that bridge’s deck.
