Collinsville police on Wednesday said a woman who reported being raped at the Wild Country nightclub has been charged with making a false police report.

Lisa M. Soest, 21, of Imperial, Mo., has been charged with two felonies: disorderly conduct and obstructing justice.

Circuit Judge Kyle Napp set Soest’s bail was set at $50,000.

Soest reported she was raped on the parking lot of the nightclub during the early-morning hours of Feb. 4.

Soest was not in custody as of Wednesday afternoon.

Collinsville Major Brett Boerm declined to discuss a motive for why the woman would make a false report. But he said police “took this very seriously,” and detectives pursued numerous tips and put in “six days of nonstop legwork.”

Boerm said Wild Country is a safe establishment.

Police reported last week that the woman said she was outside the nightclub, getting some fresh air, when she began talking to a male. The male began trying to kiss her, but she declined his advances, she told police. The man then pulled her into a vehicle and sexually assaulted her, the woman told police.

The woman described her attacker as a “clean-cut” male in his mid-20s with dark hair and sleeve tattoos.
