Marriott announces new 90-room hotel in Edwardsville
A 90-room extended-stay hotel will be built along Illinois 157 near Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Marriott International, Inc. awarded the franchise for a 90-room TownePlace Suites to Edwardsville Hospitality, LLC, which is a joint venture of R.L.P. Development of Edwardsville and General Hotels Corporation of Indianapolis, Ind. The hotel will be built on a vacant lot at the northeast corner of Illinois 157 and Center Grove Road, a mile from the heart of the SIUE campus.
A statement from General Hotels said the hotel targets extended-stay travelers and will include studio, one- and two-bedroom suites with kitchens and work spaces separate from sleeping areas.
General Hotels will manage day-to-day operations at the site.
A timeline for construction and opening was not available. A General Hotels spokesperson said the project had just begun its design phase.
