UPDATE: Police ID East St. Louis homicide victim
Police are trying to find the person who shot to death 41-year-old John E. Middlebrook, whose body was found Sunday morning on his driveway in the 3900 block of State Street.
Middlebrook, an East St. Louis native, was shot in his chest.
Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Chris Hoffstot said police are trying to determine a motive for the shooting as well as to identify the shooter.

East St. Louis Detective Jason Hicks said investigators learned that some residents heard gunshots overnight. But he said no one called the police until early Sunday.
East St. Louis police received a call about 7:15 a.m from someone reporting that a man was down in the 3900 block of State Street, Hicks said.
East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Hubbard said Middlebrook was shot in his chest.
Hoffstot said that East St. Louis investigators and Illinois State Police Special Agent Elbert Jennings will be assigned to work the case.
