The Applebee’s restaurant at 47 Ludwig Drive in Fairview Heights has closed.

A message seen taped to the entry door of the restaurant Tuesday read simply “Fairview Heights Applebee’s is currently closed. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

All exterior signs and lights that would indicate the building was a restaurant had been removed.

It’s not clear why the restaurant closed. A phone number listed for the location no longer works, and corporate representatives could not be reached for comment.
