Police say fight over a can opener led to stabbing in Highland

Highland police say an early-morning argument over a lost can opener led to a man getting stabbed last week.

The incident allegedly occurred at an apartment at 818 Main St., at 1:44 a.m. on July 29. HPD Detective Chris Flake said the victim called police.

Flake said the argument started because a can opener could not be found.

“It escalated from there,” said Flake.

Police allege that during the course of the fight, Natalie A. Vivian, 20, of Highland stabbed the male victim in the chest with a pair of scissors.

Flake said the victim suffered a superficial wound to the upper right-hand portion of his chest. He was treated at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland and released, Flake said.

Vivian was charged with felony aggravated battery. Her bond was set at $50,000.
