Community Link Buddy Walk is May 7
The 10th annual Community Link Buddy Walk is coming up on Saturday, May 7 at North Side Park in Breese. This event has been gaining in popularity over the years, with last year’s Buddy Walk attracting more than 1,200 registered walkers and runners.
Registration for the Buddy Walk is $15, and includes lunch, music and entertainment, and fun activities for the entire family. Registration for the 5K is $25, which includes your registration for the Buddy Walk as well. Organizers will still be accepting registrations up to and including the day of the event, with T-shirts available on a first come, first served basis.
Those who support the inclusion of people with special needs but who cannot participate on the day of the Buddy Walk may donate by check to Community Link, 1665 N. Fourth Street, P.O. Box 157, Breese 62230, or online at www.commlink.org/buddywalk.
Walkers and non-walkers alike may also use that web link to set up their own fundraising page for collecting donations from their “buddies” — family, friends, and colleagues. Walkers can participate individually or as part of a team. Teams may be named for someone with special needs, or for a school or church, workplace, or any person, place, or thing of value.
Vendors are also being sought for the Vendor/Craft Fair that will accompany the Buddy Walk/5K. The fee for the 10 by 10 space is $25, and you must bring your own table and chairs.
