Madison man faces murder charge in shooting of two ESL teens

An 18-year-old Madison man faces a murder charge after he allegedly shot two teens—one of whom later died—at a housing project in East St. Louis last month.

According to St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly’s office, Alec Chisolm-Blockton was charged Tuesday with murder and aggravated battery with a firearm stemming from the incident in which he allegedly shot Anton Daniels, 15, and a 14-year-old boy who hasn’t been identified on June 11 at the Roosevelt Homes complex on North 44th Street.

Daniels died three days later.

The murder charge against Chosolm-Blockton carries a maximum life sentence in prison while the aggravated battery charge is punishable by up to 30 years behind bars. Bond in the case was set at $750,000.

In response to the incident, East St. Louis police instituted a 10 p.m. curfew for minors in town.
