East St. Louis man charged with child sex-trafficking

Federal prosecutors on Thursday announced the filing of sex-trafficking charges against a 38-year-old East St. Louis man.

Michael Johnson, also known as “Daddy Tru” and “Tru,” is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit sex-trafficking of a child by force, fraud and coercion and three counts of sex-trafficking of a child by force, fraud and coercion.

The charges allege that Johnson participated in the prostitution of at least two minors between January 2010 and July 2013.

In February, Johnson was sentenced in federal court to eight and a half years in prison on a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.

The case is being conducted by the FBI.
