Body found near Cahokia, Major Case Squad activated

The Major Case Squad has been activated after a body was found in unincorporated Cahokia early Monday.

St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene just before 1 a.m. Monday at 179 Amelia Drive for a reported home invasion where a person had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies learned the victim identified as Jermion D. Conley, 46, of Cahokia, had died from his injuries, according to information released by the sheriff’s department. Court records indicate Conley lived at the home on Amelia Drive.

Conley was convicted of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in 2011 and sentenced to three years in prison. Conley was charged after prosecutors said police found a .380 semi automatic pistol in his car on July 3, 2011.
