Major Case Squad activated after Collinsville man is found dead in his home
The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has been activated after a 68-year-old Collinsville man was found dead in his home, but authorities are sharing very little about the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
Daniel A. Taylor, of 600 Ostle Dr. Lot 7, was found deceased by relatives at about 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Major Case Squad statement.

Investigators said Taylor’s death is suspicious, but specific details about how Taylor died were not released.
“After an autopsy showed this was suspicious in nature more so than we thought at first, we activated the Major Case Squad,” Collinsville Maj. Richard Wittenauer said Thursday night.
Wittenauer said Taylor was last seen alive Sunday afternoon after having lunch with family members.
“We are working on some leads. It would be helpful if we could get anybody who knew Mr. Taylor or has seen him recently,” Wittenauer said.
Madison County Coroner Steve Nonn, when reached Thursday afternoon, said it is his policy not to release information about pending homicide investigations. He would not say how Taylor was killed or how long authorities believe he had been dead before his body was discovered.
Police are asking the public for information about known associates of the victim as well as about places he routinely frequented.
Anyone with information is asked to call 618-344-2131, ext. 5924 or CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477.
