Female delivery driver robbed, beaten in Belleville
Police are searching for a pair of suspects accused of beating and robbing a female delivery driver in Belleville.
According to police, at just before 4 p.m. Friday the 59-year-old woman was delivering food in the 300 block of Wabash Avenue, and she was approached by two male juveniles.
“One suspect approached the victim and asked her if she had the food,” Belleville Police Department Detective Sgt. Mark Heffernan said. “The victim replied that she did, and the suspect began to batter the female. The other suspect took the victim’s wallet.”
The suspects fled in an unknown direction. A police tracking dog was brought to the area but was unable to find the suspects.
Police said the woman was injured in the attack but that she refused to accept medical attention.
