Crash involving IDOT worker reported on I-64

The Illinois Department of Transportation confirmed Wednesday afternoon that a worker was involved in a crash on Interstate 64.

The crash occurred on I-64 at the Illinois 111 interchange in Washington Park around 2 p.m. The ramp from the interstate’s westbound lanes onto northbound Illinois 111 was closed. Several IDOT trucks and personnel were on the scene and a passenger car could be seen in the ditch near the ramp.

The cause or severity of the crash was not immediately known. An IDOT operations worker reached at District 8 headquarters in Collinsville was unable to share additional details about the incident.
