New O’Fallon restaurant serves up beer, all-American bar fare — and sushi?
A new restaurant specializing in beer, burgers and sushi is set to open its doors Sept. 21.
Drake’s is opening its newest restaurant at 1160 Central Park Drive in O’Fallon. It’s the 15th addition to Drake’s and first Illinois restaurant for Lexington, Kentucky-based Bluegrass Hospitality Group.
Drake’s web site professes a “restaurant that loves beer and a bar that loves food.”
The chain has 24 different craft beers of all types on tap. The menu includes American-style pub food such as hand-pressed burgers, Sriracha wings, build-your-own tacos and more. And — surprise! — there’s sushi too.
Drake’s was originally scheduled to open in the spring.
“We had just started the hiring and training process in March when everything shut down, so had to push the opening.,” said Mark Thornburg, Drake’s chief operating officer, in an email.
The restaurant features a patio, open year-round, with garage doors that open in nice weather and a fireplace for cooler weather. One of the restaurant’s two bars is in the patio area.
“We’ve all been through a lot these past few months, and we find that our guests look forward to coming to Drake’s as an escape from it all. We’re looking forward to welcoming the O’Fallon community to our restaurant,” said Thornburg.
According to its website, Drake’s is following Illinois’ coronavirus guidelines. Measures include socially distanced tables, daily health screenings of all employees and temperature checks of guests, and increased hand washing and sanitizing. Guests will be asked ot wear a face covering when not at their tables.

Drake’s is located at 1160 Central Park Drive, O’Fallon.
Regular hours are Monday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to midnight. Hours will vary to accommodate Region 4 COVID restrictions.
