A Fairview Heights bakery is moving across town. Here’s where and when

A woman-owned, family-run bakery in Fairview Heights is moving to a new location.

Lizzie Bob’s Bakery, currently at 823 Lincoln Highway, Suite 102, is moving to a larger location, and will remain in Fairview Heights.

The bakery will remain open at the current location through noon Saturday, May 7.

Owner Elizabeth Toepfer said her landlord purchased the property at 5500 N. Illinois St. and she will move her business there over the next couple of months.

The new location previously housed The Bead Place, which moved to 8 Plaza Drive in the Fairview Heights Market Place Shopping Center earlier this year.

The bakery will be closed for up to 60 days, using that time to prepare their new space, including the installation of kitchen equipment, according to Toepfer, who runs the business with her husband Bob Toepfer.

During this time, Lizzie Bob’s Bakery will continue serving customers by way of their Mobile Bakery at local events, including the Maryville, Collinsville (Herald Square) and New Baden farmers markets. Toepfer said they’re booked for events up to October and may add more.

The new location will provide more space than their current 1,000 square feet, allowing room for seating for dining in, which they were not able to do before.

In addition, they will be able to expand the menu to include more than the made-from-scratch baked goods they are known for. (Think pizza, sandwiches — Toepfer said the “sky’s the limit.”)

Toepfer said she plans to offer baking classes as well.

While Lizzie Bob’s Bakery will not be taking new orders at this time, a full food case will remain available until closing.

Lizzie Bob’s Bakery will be open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

After that, you can check for updates and events at lizziebobsbakery.com or on the bakery’s Facebook page.
