A partnership that would have moved Tony’s Tacos from Belleville to Old Herald Brewery & Distillery in Collinsville was called off a day before the scheduled grand opening.

Tony’s Tacos owner Tony Oseguera said in a phone interview Wednesday that renovations were completed Monday, the day before the restaurant was supposed to open at its new location. However, there were last-minute “changes in the lease agreement that wasn’t going to benefit Tony’s Tacos.”

So he walked away.

Old Herald owner Derik Reiser has not yet returned the BND’s calls for comment.

The brewery posted on social media Wednesday that it is looking for a new food or restaurant partner to occupy the kitchen.

Oseguera said for now, Tony’s Tacos will continue full-time with the food truck while they look for another location in the Collinsville area. Tony’s moved out of its Belleville location at the Adam’s Auction facility, 1550 Illinois 15, in anticipation of its move.
