Check out four new places to eat this week in Fairview Heights and Belleville
Well, folks, I hope you’re hungry because I have a list of restaurant openings for you in Fairview Heights and Belleville.
Atomic Wings in Fairview Heights opened Sunday, according to a post on the location’s Facebook page.
The restaurant is owned by Evelyn and Chris Steinacher, who also own Firehouse Subs locations in Collinsville and Edwardsville.
Last year, the Steinachers planned to take over a Firehouse Subs location at 5909 N. Illinois St. after owner Rod Wanjala closed the shop. However, plans to transfer ownership to the Steinachers fell through, and the location permanently closed.
Atomic Wings is located at 6100 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday-Saturday.

Long-awaited Asian restaurant is now open
Also open in Fairview Heights is Tasty Bowl Stirfry & Sushi.
Monday, June 16, is the soft opening day for the new Asian restaurant, according to owner Sean Lin. An offering of appetizers, sushi, ramen and stirfry bowls are the highlights of the menu for his latest endeavor.
Lin has four decades of hands-on restaurant experience and opened his first restaurant in 2005.
He said he will stay at the Fairview Heights restaurant for its first six months to help get things up and running in the right direction. Then he will move on to other projects, which include launching more restaurants in the St. Louis area.
Tasty Bowl Stirfry & Sushi is located at 51 Lincoln Highway in Fairview Heights. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Downtown Belleville welcomes newest restaurant
Starting Tuesday, June 17, folks can enjoy the wide food selection and margaritas at La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant in Belleville.
Owner Rafael Torres celebrates the opening of his third area restaurant with a ribbon-cutting event at 10:30 a.m. before opening for lunch at 11 a.m.
Torres also owns Viva La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant in Edwardsville and Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant on Belleville’s West Main Street.
Those who like the offerings at Mi Casa will also enjoy the menu at La Fiesta in a fun, festive setting. The former Mariachi’s site received a makeover with some fresh paint, murals, custom furnishings and other décor.
La Fiesta is located at 400 S. Illinois St. in Belleville and opens at 11 a.m. daily. For more info, call 618-641-9109 or visit the restaurant’s Facebook page.
If you have room for dessert …
If, after checking out any or all of the above-mentioned restaurants, you’re in the mood or something sweet, make a stop at Alibi Cookies at 5200 N. Illinois St., Suite 107, in Fairview Heights.
The new St. Louis-based cookie shop opens at noon Tuesday, June, 17, according to Daphne Dorsey, who owns the franchise location with her husband, Rozmond Dorsey.
She said that Alibi Cookies founder Mike Evans would be on site during the shop’s soft opening period to help out. The grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, June 28.
I’m hoping to spend more time speaking with the Dorseys to learn more about their new business, so stay tuned.
Alibi Cookies was founded by Evans in 2020 as a way for him to share his love of cookies. The business got its start as a vending machine operation. The machines, known as “CookieBots,” distribute warm, individually wrapped cookies in various flavors.
Other Alibi Cookies locations include Edwardsville, which opened in spring 2023, the original location in St. Louis’ Dogtown, Kirkwood and Webster Groves (coming soon) in Missouri, and Statesville and Greensboro in North Carolina.
