Who makes the best drinks in downtown Belleville? Let us know
A good bartender knows how to make a classic cocktail and does it well.
I’m the first to admit that I’m no cocktail connoisseur, but I know what I like. And sometimes a good Old Fashioned can hit the spot after a long week.
Once, the husband and I went to a place where no one knew how to make a Negroni. He took pity on the bar staff—or he just really wanted that Negroni—and explained how it’s done: Equal parts gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari. Stir with ice. Orange (peel or slice) garnish. Done.
Easy peasy.
We’ve also been to places where the bartenders make amazing drinks. If you haven’t had a Manhattan at Belleville Stein Haus, you’re missing out.
Channel your inner James Bond and order a vodka martini — shaken, not stirred. If you’d rather be Carrie Bradshaw (or Samantha, or Miranda, or Charlotte), order a Cosmopolitan.
Cocktails not your thing? No worries. Mocktails are options at many places too, and it seems like their popularity is growing.
Sometimes there’s just nothing like a good drink made by a pro.
This is the part where you get to publicly acknowledge said pro in the latest BND reader poll. Nominate your favorite bartender in downtown Belleville.
Fill out the Google Form below and share details about your favorite bartender. The required info can also be emailed to jgreen@bnd.com.
You have until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, to make your nominations. If you’d like to make multiple nominations, please submit them individually. Late submissions will not be accepted.
First-round voting will begin Wednesday, March 4, and run through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, March 8. Whether there will be a round two for voting depends on the number of nominations received.
The poll will not be scientific—it’s just good fun!
So Cheers! Sláinte! Prost! Here’s mud in your eye! Enjoy!
