Own this metro-east bed & breakfast with stunning river views for only $2.7 million
A famous bed and breakfast with breathtaking views of the river confluence north of Alton is on sale.
The main house has a total of 4,800 sq. ft and a two-car garage. The eight cottages are roughly 900 sq. ft each, and the total property sits at 19.85 acres total.
To get to the bed and breakfast, one must brave a steep incline that is surely a trial during snow and ice, but a reward of breathtaking views awaits them at the top.
Construction was completed on the bed and breakfast in 1990 and has served in that capacity since, passing from the original owners to their daughter, who is now selling it to move closer to her grandchildren after 15 years of owning and managing the establishment.
Patrons to the inn are known to often revisit, as shown by the guest book in the reception area. Judging by online reviews and comments left in the book, a significant reason for the returning guests is due to Alison Rohan, the inn’s owner. Many credit her as a significant figure in the community and as a manager.
Rachel Peters, who manages the property, says that Rohan’s shoes will be hard to fill, but that she hopes the new owner will be ambitious enough to make it work.
“I’m not family, but she’s always treated me like I am,” Peters said, “Whoever does end up buying the bed and breakfast needs to have her tenacity.”
