2 metro-east grocery stores to close early for Labor Day 2025. See local hours

Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 1 this year, and while many Belleville-area grocers will be open normal hours, some will close early.

For those who need to mail a package or letter, the U.S. Postal Service will be closed Monday in observance of the holiday.

Belleville residents with outdoor plans for the holiday weekend may get to enjoy some more mild temperatures compared to recent heatwaves, with a high of 79 degrees Fahrenheit expected Monday, according to the National Weather Service St. Louis office forecast.

Sept. 1 will also mark the start of meteorological fall, and forecasters expect this autumn may be relatively warm and dry in the metro-east.

Here’s what to know before heading out for your grocery shopping Monday.

Aldi

All Aldi stores, including Belleville’s location, will close early at 6 p.m. for Labor Day. Belleville’s store will open at 8:30 a.m. that day.

Sam’s Club

The Sam’s Club in O’Fallon will close early for Labor Day. Hours for regular Club members will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Plus members can also shop from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Schnucks

All Schnucks locations are open normal business hours for Labor Day. The store at 800 Carlyle Ave. in Belleville will be open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Target

The Target store at 5601 Belleville Crossing will be open normal hours, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday.

Total Wine & More

Total Wine & More stores will be open for normal hours on Labor Day. The Fairview Heights location will be open 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Walmart

Walmart stores will be open for regular operating hours Monday. The location at 2608 Green Mount Commons Drive in Belleville will be open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
