There were 21 new confirmed cases of coronavirus in St. Louis City and 32 new cases in St. Louis County as of Wednesday evening, according to the Department of Health and Human Services.

Statewide, Missouri counted 356 COVID-19 cases and eight deaths, up from five on Tuesday. There were a total of 44 known cases in the city and 129 in the county.

Because there is clear evidence of community transmission, the criteria for testing has changed, according to the county Department of Public Health.

Those who have been in close contact with a COVID-19 patient with symptoms, those at high risk with symptoms or those hospitalized with symptoms are eligible for testing.

Six new cases of COVID-19 were announced in the metro-east Wednesday. In total, there are now 10 cases in St. Clair County, three in Madison, four in Clinton, one in Washington and two in Monroe.
