Newest coronavirus numbers in southwestern Illinois include deaths in St. Clair, Madison

Overall, there were a total of 1,166 new coronavirus cases in the metro-east as of Thursday, an increase from 1,124 on Wednesday.

St. Clair County reported seven new deaths on Thursday: a female in her 50s, a female in her 70s, a female in her 80s, a male in his 80s, a female in her 100s and a male in his 90s all with underlying conditions, and a male in his 80s with no known underlying conditions.

Also Thursday, Madison County reported two new deaths, bringing the county death toll to 21 since the pandemic began.

Clinton County reported Thursday that all four of its deaths were long-term residents at an assisted care facility in Carlyle.

During the state’s daily COVID-19 news conference Thursday, officials announced 2,563 new cases and 140 additional deaths. The announcement brings the statewide total of positive coronavirus cases to 52,918, and the total number of deaths to 2,355.
