St. Clair, Madison counties report combined 55 new cases of coronavirus, one death
Two metro-east counties saw double-digit increases in COVID-19 cases Saturday.
St. Clair County and Madison County reported a total of 55 new coronavirus cases Saturday, with St. Clair County reporting 41 new cases and Madison County reporting 14.
St. Clair County officials also reported one additional death, a man in his 80s with underlying health conditions. Madison County reported no deaths Saturday.
Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health said 766 additional people have tested positive for COVID-19 and 91 more people died in the previous 24 hours.
Illinois has seen a total of 6,289 deaths during the pandemic, officials reported. A total of 131,871 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus.
