Residents, staff at Belleville’s Esquiline test negative for COVID-19 after positive result

All residents and employees of Dammert Care Center at the Esquiline in Belleville have tested negative for COVID-19 — including a resident who had tested positive last week, according to the facility.

One resident’s positive test result from June 11 prompted the widespread testing June 12-13 for COVID-19, caused by the coronavirus, according to a news release from the Esquiline on Tuesday.

The Esquiline offers independent, assisted living and skilled nursing care at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. The Dammert Care Center is a skilled nursing facility, according to the Esquiline’s website.

“The fact that we had a skilled nursing resident test positive for COVID-19 that has never developed any symptoms really has us puzzled,” Jeff Baker, president of The Esquiline stated in the release. “However, that person and all their fellow residents and staff tested negative on tests administered Friday or Saturday.”
