St. Clair, Madison counties report 21 new cases of coronavirus on Monday
Metro-east counties saw a drop in new confirmed coronavirus cases Monday while reporting four dnew COVID-19-related deaths.
Only 26 new cases were reported throughout the metro-east Monday, spread throughout St. Clair, Madison, Monroe and Jersey counties. In Madison and St. Clair counties, four new COVID-19 deaths were also reported.
According to St. Clair County officials, a man in his 70s and two women in their 80s died. All three patients had underlying conditions. No information was released on the individual who died in Madison County.
Statewide, the Illinois Department of Health department on Sunday reported 462 new cases of the virus had been confirmed, and there were an additional 26 deaths.
Illinois has seen a total of 6,671 deaths during the pandemic, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported. A total of 137,224 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, while more than 1.3 million people have been tested for COVID-19.
