Southwest Illinois has 78 new COVID-19 cases, while Madison County reports 1 new death
A total of 78 new COVID-19 cases and one new death were announced in the southwestern Illinois region Wednesday.
Madison County officials reported one new death from COVID-19 Wednesday, a male in his 70s. It is unknown if he had underlying health conditions. The county now has 69 coronavirus-related deaths. Madison also reported 21 new cases, while St. Clair County announced 47 new cases but no new deaths.
St. Clair had its second-straight day of 47 cases, while Monroe County announced five new cases and Perry County reported three new cases Wednesday. Clinton County and Washington County each had one new case.
Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health on Wednesday reported 828 new cases of the virus had been confirmed with 30 additional deaths.
Illinois has seen a total of 6,951 deaths during the pandemic as of Wednesday, officials reported. A total of 144,013 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, while more than 1.6 million people have been tested for COVID-19, including 33,090 since Tuesday.

Free COVID-19 testing in Lebanon in early July
The St. Clair County Health Department will offer free COVID-19 testing in Lebanon on Tuesday, July 7.
Testing will be offered at from 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. at the Prescriptions Plus True Value parking lot, 753 True Value Drive, Lebanon.
No appointments are needed. The sites will test adults and children who are 3 years old or older.
People who visit the mobile testing sites are asked to wear face coverings, such as a mask, and to bring photo identification and an insurance card if they have one.
Testing will be conducted through a throat swab.

The St. Clair County Health Department will offer free COVID-19 testing in O’Fallon Tuesday, July 14.
Testing will be offered at O’Fallon Family Sports Park at 301 Obernuefemann Road from 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. on the north end of the park.
No appointments are needed. The sites will test adults and children who are 4 years old or older.
People who visit the mobile testing sites are asked to wear face coverings, such as a mask, and to bring photo identification and an insurance card if they have one.
