Flights from MidAmerica to Sarasota begin Friday. Here’s how much they will cost.
Starting Friday, Allegiant Air’s non-stop flights to Sarasota, Florida, begin at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport.
The flights from MidAmerica to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, originally announced in August, are being offered seasonally and operate twice a week. The flights are being touted as another boost to the airport’s route offerings. It brings the total number of cities served at MidAmerica to 10.
To “celebrate” the new route, MidAmerica is offering one-way fares to Sarasota for as little as $58.
“The new flights launching between MidAmerica St. Louis Airport and Sarasota, Florida, marks the 10th destination that Allegiant now serves with direct flights from MidAmerica, and that increasing level of choice contributes to the continuing growth in passenger traffic here,” St. Clair County Board Chairman Mark Kern said. “MidAmerica has proven to be a wonderful partner for Allegiant, providing an extremely cost-effective way for them to grow their business, while giving people across this region amazing destinations to enjoy with nonstop service.”
MidAmerica Director Tim Cantwell said the route kickoff will give MidAmerica yet another boost in customers. Earlier in the year, it was reported MidAmerica had its best month customer-wise in its history.
“This new service comes during one of MidAmerica St. Louis Airport’s busiest years yet with record numbers of passengers taking advantage of the convenient, affordable, nonstop flights to the tourist hot spots that appeal to those living in the bi-state St. Louis region,” Cantwell said. “As Allegiant continues to add new routes to its roster of popular vacation destinations, and MidAmerica continues to offer a hassle-free travel experience, we fully expect demand will continue to grow.”
When the new service was originally announced, Cantwell said it was another move that strengthens Allegiant’s presence in Southern Illinois. He added that it would help grow the airport’s customer base as well.
