Motorcycle driver gets the ticket after causing crash in Mascoutah, police say

A Mascoutah man has been cited after his motorcycle rear-ended a car on Sixth Street near Fuessner Road on Sunday.

George Fagan, 65, was riding his 2001 Ducati motorcycle on northbound Sixth Street when he struck a northbound 2008 Mitsubishi that was waiting to turn left onto Fuessner Road around 3:30 p.m., Lt. Matt Steinkamp of the Mascoutah Police Department said Monday.

Fagan, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from his bike and taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Steinkamp said. His motorcycle was towed and he was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Two other serious accidents occurred in the metro-east over the weekend. Five people were hurt Saturday when a pickup truck hit a MetroLink train between the Emerson Park and Fairview Heights stations. And on Sunday, a 6-year-old Wood River girl was killed in a crash on Illinois 111
