Columbia Police turn cowboy while apprehending escaped bull near JB Bridge

A bull was apprehended near the Jefferson Barracks Bridge by Columbia Police Wednesday afternoon.

Police received multiple calls from drivers near the bridge at around 2:15 p.m. when the bull was seen running on and around the interstate. Columbia Police Capt. Jason Donjon said the bull had escaped from an East Carondelet farm.

Officers attempted to herd the bull away from the interstate while inside their cars, eventually coercing the bull onto nearby Levee Road where it continued to wander.

Donjon said police were able to contact the bull’s owners who arrived on scene a short time later. The owner then lassoed the bull and eventually it was taken back to the farm in the owner’s vehicle.

Donjon said no one was hurt during the incident.
