A man shot in East St. Louis on Friday night dies at St. Louis hospital
A 40-year-old man was shot in the 600 block of N. 80th Street on Friday night and later died at a St. Louis hospital, according to East St. Louis police.
The identity of the victim was not released.
Cantrell Patterson, commander of the East St. Louis Police Division of Investigations, said police have a suspect in custody.
Patterson said police believe the victim was involved in an altercation before he was shot. “We do not have a motive for the shooting,” Patterson said.
Patterson said Illinois State Police are investigating the shooting.
It was the second fatal shooting in two days in East St. Louis. Two people were shot , one fatally, in a shooting Thursday night.
Police said they have no suspects in the Thursday night shooting.
