Two southwest Illinois Family Video locations will shut next month

Two area Family Video stores will be closing in October.

Highland Ventures, LTD, the parent company of Family Video, announced in a press release that stores located at 1609 W. Main St. in Belleville and 3102 Nameoki Road in Granite City will close their doors Oct. 26. In addition to the two Illinois stores, a Missouri location will also close.

Family Video District Manager Melissa Schuchardt told the Belleville News-Democrat that the stores have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and that the customers just weren’t coming in.

Both stores are currently selling all movies, games and store fixtures.

Locations in Highland and Collinsville closed in July 2019. The Family Video at 1838 Central Plaza Drive in Belleville will remain open, according to the release.
