Worker shortage, owner’s surgery is forcing this O’Fallon restaurant to close temporarily
Hop House Southern Eatery in O’Fallon will temporarily close starting this weekend.
The announcement was made Tuesday via the eatery’s Facebook page.
Reasons given for the closure were worker shortages and an upcoming hip replacement surgery for owner Steve Edwards.
Restaurant manager Jovanna Becker said Wednesday that they will close at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 31.
The Facebook post also said plans are for the restaurant to reopen after Edwards’ surgery in March.
Efforts will be made to place Hop House employees with the owners’ other restaurants.
Becker said these restaurants include:
Urban Farmhouse, 15 Central Blvd., Highland
Ravanelli’s Restaurant, 26 Collinsport Drive, Collinsville
Chic N Pig, 3200 Godfrey Road, Godfrey
Fire-N-Smoke, 1800 Vaughn Road, Wood River
The Facebook post ends with, “If any customers who purchased gift cards would like to use them before we close you will have until January 1st to do so, or you can hold them until we reopen, if neither of these options are viable for you we will have a few days in January when you can bring them in and we will buy them back from you.”
Hop House opened in July 2016 at 1214 Central Park Drive in O’Fallon, the former site of a Ravanelli’s Restaurant. Ravanelli’s O’Fallon closed in June 2015. The Granite City Ravanelli’s location closed in February.
Ravanelli’s in O’Fallon was replaced by Fire-N-Smoke Wood-Fired Kitchen, which closed after nearly seven months and was replaced by Hop House. Fire-N-Smoke still has locations in Troy and Wood River.
