Woman suffers life-threatening injuries when truck, car collide in St. Clair County
A 28-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following an early morning traffic accident Sunday in St. Clair County, police said.
According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, Breonna Hargrove of Florissant, Missouri, was traveling northbound on Interstate 55 at approximately 5:36 a.m. when a semi-truck driven by Juan Cantu, 57, of Alamo, Texas, struck her car head-on.
Cantu was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger traveling with Cantu reported no injuries, according to the press release.
All southbound lanes were closed for approximately five hours but since have reopened. The crash remains under investigation and no further information was available as of Sunday afternoon, according to state police.
